Green Machine
I always wanted one of these as a kid. Good friends had one and they were impossible to pedal up a hill, but it didn’t stop me wanting one.

BRINGS back, of course. Wow, I’m so anal about that kind of thing.
Ross Robinson replied
Yeah, me too. It’s good to see pedantry is alive and well.

i really like this, i’m probably too young to have had one though, looks like it would have been a good workout for the old thighs, and how would you get up a kerb in one of these, challenges you just don’t see these days…
Ross Robinson replied
I think they were released in the mid to late 70s. They did update them a couple of years ago I seem to remember. And you’re right – they were hard work to pedal!

I had a Green Machine. I got it around 1980 I think.
We had a hill street that ran down into our street, so we used to start at the top and fly down the hill and then turned into our street. If you locked up one wheel with the controls, it would spin around.
Eventually the back wheels wore away and started splitting. But it was fun while it lasted.
Kids came from everywhere in the street and wanted a go.
There was also the Big Wheels. One big pedal wheel at the front and two small wheels at the back.
A kid up the street had one. It looked pretty cool.
Yes they did bring out a new version about 3 years ago. Haven’t seen one since.
Love the Green Machine.

oh god, you’re bringing back some memories today….i wanted one too….did you ever have Hugo, the master of disguise toy with all the prosthetics and make-up? god he was a great (if creepy) toy of that era. wish i still had him. : )
Ross Robinson replied
OMG – I’d forgotten all about Hugo. I never had one but I remember the ad. Even the ad was kind of wrong from memory…

he was kind of disturbing….i still have his vampire teeth!
