Ross, does this picture depict a WWII battle? It is a very interesting scene. I’m a veteran who served in a combat unit so military history is an interest of mine. I don’t know much about the military history of Australia. I find the picture fascinating. Could you tell me more about it if you have the time?

Hi Lori,
This is from the Australian War Memorial (http://www.awm.gov.au/). In the World War One section they have lots of wonderfully detailed dioramas of various battles Australian soldiers fought in. Unfortunately I didn’t write down which shots were which battles so I’m not sure which one this depicts.
Have a look at that website, though – there’s a lot of info about our military history.

tremendous depiction, demonstrates the ‘uphill battle’ and ‘against odds’ nature of australians in wars during the 20th century, usually on the frontline of badly devised british plans
