Wow, this is an impressive portrait! You`ve made good use of available light, perfect exposure and selective depth to give this a 3 dimensional quality. Very natural pose and expression, you must have made her feel very comfortable to get that natural smile. But what I think I like the most is your strong composition and crop, and subdued tonal balance. This picutre stands out amounst the best I`ve seen in the reportage genre, and it would certainly not be out of place on the pages of National Geographic. I can`t think of any better way of telling you how much I like this, and I`m really surprised there aren`t more comments here. Killer shot !!
billyboy
PS: forgot to mention the catchlight in the eyes. Nice touch!
Clarissa Stuart
Good art is supposed to evoke an emotional response. This image does just that. I see such innocence and hope in her eyes, but the texture of the skin on her hands speaks to how hard her life is. The setting speaks of squalor, but there is also joy here. Simple, powerful. Extraordinarily sharp, in more ways than one.
Anthony Begovic

Roslyn, This is my second comment on this image. I view it in my favorites often and am stricken each time by how captivating the image is. I don’t know if you ever saw the NG cover with the Afghany (sp?) young girl with the stunning/captivating green eyes but this image has a very similar impact on me. Regards, Ken
