Hi Rosina & all, I live at Tathra, have most of my life. This is not actually Tathra Beach but a small cove beside the beach called Shelly Beach. Don’t worry about sunbathing here you guys the main beach is absolutely glorious.Cleanest beach, 2007,white sand and safe for swimming. By the way Rosina, lovely photo! Cheers, Carole
Hi Rosina, as one of the Keep Australia Beautiful, CleanBeach Challenge, NSW, assessors, can I tell you that Tathra Beach, on the far south coast, near Bega / Bermagui, was declared the Department of Environment and Climate Change NSW Overall State Clean Beach Winner for 2008. This will be its eighth year (2008) year, when assessing takes place, in September. The Keep Australia Beautiful NSW Clean Beach Challenge encourages and recognises coastal communities, local councils, volunteers and surf lifesaving clubs who focus on anti-litter initiatives, dune andhabitat conservation, environmental education programs and initiatives that generally enhance the beach visitor’s experience and protect this State’s beautiful coastline. “Tathra Beach was one of 115 beaches entered and assessed along our states amazing coastline. Tathra was announced as the overall winner for South Coast Region and after all the regional winners were analysed by the State judging Panel, they have emerged as the clear winning beach,” Chief Executive Officer, Keep Australia Beautiful NSW, Peter McLean, said. “Tathra Beach is the pearl of the state and is the deserving winner of the Department of Environment and Climate Change 2008”. I have been an assessor, reporting to that committee, six times but so far have not been allocated the far south or far north coasts of NSW. (Others I’ve been to more than once.) I’ve been to Tathra and taken pictures too. The awards are well-deserved!!
Hi Rosina, Thanks for this one it brought back many happy childhood memories. we used to basically live down here during the summer months. Fantastic shot keep it up. Cheers Bel
