Pantheon, Rome

Pantheon,is a building in Rome which was originally built as a temple to “all the gods” of Ancient Rome. perhaps the best preserved building of its age in the world.Since the 7th century, the Pantheon has been used as a Christian church The Pantheon is currently the oldest standing domed structure in Rome.
The only natural light enters through an unglazed oculus at the center of the dome and through the bronze doors to the portico. As the sun moves, striking patterns of light illuminate the walls and floors of porphyry, granite and yellow marbles.

    For those who have not seen it in the wild – The Pantheon and the square within which it sits are superbly challenging to photographers. First there are the thirty million tourists and Romans who mill about the area… after all this is a working city – of one of the world’s most elegantly important capitals. Then there’s the building itself which has been so often pictured that almost any new image is likely to feel like a clichéd postal card. Finally, there’s the searing lighting when most tourists show up that makes the contrasts an enormous challenge.

    Sooo…. with that in mind… LOOKIT THIS! Here’s an evocative image of the world’s oldest continually used building which captures its mystery and grandeur as if it weren’t built some two millennia ago. Thanks for sharing Rosina…
