Alice was an unwanted and neglected rabbit that I acquired from a shelter. She would have been around 1 year old when I got her, I’ve had her for 5 years now, and she’s been the sweetest, most gentle rabbit company in that time, with many little amusing stories I could tell, like how she got in and out of her cage without me knowing, and I’d keep finding random droppings around the place making me scratch my head for days, or the time I heard a noise and found her eating a sweet potatoe that had been left out in the kitchen, or the time I found her eating my mother’s indoor plant and she even ran away with the leaf.
But sadly, she seems to be giving in to her many ailments that I’ve had to bring her in to the vet three times (and burnt a hole in my piggybank) in the last month, now I’m just hoping for a surprise recovery for Easter.
One of my watercolour pet portraits for her was long overdue, and she certainly deserves one! What better time to put it up than Easter? Here’s to all the gentle, amusing pets in our lives.
watercolour on 300gsm paper, 10×15cm
