Edinburgh Visit

Well what a great day Sheilz and myself had down in Edinburgh meeting with other members of the bubble Scots are coming group. We didn’t leave Aberdeen till after 12noon and arrived in the City just before 3pm off course “Specy” had to be parked outwith the city centre so that meant we had to take the bus into the city centre. Well that was OK till we arrived on Princess Street and Sheilz kindly informed me that where we were going was right up the top of the hill (mountain) we went up and up and i had too stop lots of times to ease my poor aching legs oh yes we did see a lovely Audi being clamped and being lifted onto the lorry poor sod who returns looking for their car… Anyway back to this mountain i had to climb!!!! we eventually arrived at the museum it must have been around 4.15 by this time, of course we didn’t know who all was coming to this meeting. It is very easy to spot RB’s they are the ones huddled in a corner camera’s at the ready and chatting away unaware of what is going on around them. We had passed a few groups of folk with camera but then who doesn’t have a camera in hand when they are in Edinburgh???. we went over to the group and asked the question are you from the RB site yes we had found them alright…..

It was great to meet people from all around we had a lovely chat with them and listened to what was going on with them. We eventually had to leave the museum as it was closing time….

We said our goodbyes on the steps and Sheilz and I went to greyfriars churchyard, we had a superb time watching the street entertainers, the fireworks going off at the castle and just amazed by the culture and arts on show…

We went on some guided tour of the City of the Dead, it was quite funny we had a walk down to the cemetry and taken to various stops along the way then we were ushered through the gates to the vault where we all had to be very quiet, no light just the torch from the guide….. it was hot in there as i think there was 60 of us in the group, we were in there for 10mins when this guy came and jumped out in the front of us, me and sheilz couldn’t suppress our giggles it was so funny, there was a young girl in front of us who was really scared and crying i did feel sorry for her. Anyway back to where we started and the end of the tour i think the spooks must have been scared of sheilz and myself i mean they just didn’t stand a chance againt us Aberdonianns… LOL… anyway it was now nearly 12 midnight and we had to get back to “Specy” we made it down to Princess St and would you believe it no busses running that we needed only one thing to do and that was get a taxi, we had to walk to waverly train station and wait in the queue by this time i was a walking zombie!! we finally got our taxi and off to “Specy”, we headed up the road again and I finally got home at 4.20 am hurrah….

It was a great day out i loved it I loved being in Edinburgh and i loved all the vibrant life and culture going on around me. I suffered all day Sunday and still not right today but my goodness it was really well worth the suffering for a fantastic day out.

So too all the bubblers from the “Scots are coming” group whom we met thank you. I hope that it will happen again and more people come along…..

Sob! Sob! I am so sorry I couldn’t get there and was left sitting at home with the foot up – bloody thing**! Sounds like you had a ball! Next time we’ll meet out in the country somewhere nearer you where we can park cars. One day – when we get a summer … sighing with fond memories of summer’s past!
