Metamorphosis

I wrote this last night as a companion to my Fitzroy Fronds image … and as a comment on Life.
I do intend to put both together in one image when the creative juices inspire!!

Metamorphosis belongs to the following groups:

All Things Poetic, Artistic, Philosophical

Unfurling gently in the soft, late sun,

they shyly extend their fingers.

Tentative, as the newfound freedom offers no resistance ,

they relish the warmth.

Is it real, or is it a dream?

Will it fade

and the restrictions of their previous existence suddenly reappear?

Can they trust this new environment?

What does the future hold?

Is it worth the risk,

this glowing warmth

that stirs the sap and gives life to once-dormant extremities?

The golden orb slips lower. The damp cool night descends.

No longer furled, their fronds are now exposed.

The forest seems so different now

… they are vulnerable

… and cold

… and confused … in a place of no return.

` ` ` ` ` ` ` ` ` ` ` ` ` ` ` `

Shivering gently as the soft, early sun

caresses the forest, they turn

… to face the warmth of a brand new day.
