What a handsome team of bovines this is … and so well behaved. The bullock team from Timbertown near Wauchope, NSW, head back to their paddock after demonstrating their log hauling and obedience skills. To get some idea of their strength, we were told the world record is 12 bullocks pulling something like 110 ton … around 9 ton per animal.

NB The pies are really delicious – all the more so when they are eaten at rough wooden tables in front of a roaring open fire!

I suffer from viewfinder vision (find myself visualising a frame around everything I see) so my genre is “anything that moves and most things that don’t”!!

I don’t so much wish to document places and things, as to evoke feeling and emotion.

This leads to a diverse portfolio and constantly overloaded external hard drives…not to mention some burning of the midnight oil as I keep looking for that elusive perfect process for yet another ‘masterpiece’!!!

the beef is a bit undrcooked lol good capture Rosalie

  • I am not a ‘rare’ beefeater so yes, I’ll agree Philip … They are so sweet (?!) could you really eat one?! That bloke had amazing control over the team simply with commands and tone of voice.

  • Another ideal spot for the nostalgic/historic shots Hans. And these animals are so photogenic! Thanks my friend.

I’d say that record was a load of bull if it wasn’t you telling the story. Timbertown is now on my bucket list. Top shot Rosalie.

  • Similar to our Pioneer Village Michael but with more working things … it would be good to go on one of their theme days but then you get the crowds as well. If you do go up that way I have a couple of excellent accom options. Thanks for the fav! xx

Super shot Rosalie and almost identical to a slide I took there in 1983! Does that quaint little train still run around the place? I love this shot of yours – it typifies brute strength.
    Take care
    Peter

  • The little train still runs Peter – some of the bits of machinery etc have gone back to the owners (i think they were on loan) since the park is now privately owned but it is being revamped a bit and new areas developed. Lovely to have staff/volunteers in costume and the shops and buildings functioning as ‘normal’!! Brute strength is right. The fellow held the cattle up in a position where the cart became bogged and demonstrated how they pull it out, from being stationary … impressive.

    Hi Rosalie D
How long ago did you pass through Wauchope and Timbertown ? Great photo, I have many a pie in the restaurant , they do put on a steam day once a year you were right in my back door.
    Cheers
    Rod.

  • G’day Rod … just this past weekend! I did meet up with Dennis and he showed me a few great spots … I even had a camel ride on Lighthouse Beach before I left on Monday. Didn’t realise you were so close!
