After a few hours in Gulgong, I decided to drive straight home from this leg of my travels … but with a second to spare, literally, had a rush of blood to the head and made the Hill End diversion for 24 hours .. and I am so glad I did!
This is pretty much a ‘point of reference’ shot from this morning … a young Hill End resident, a crispy, frosty morning with sun just peeping through the trees, up on the far hill with about 20 kangaroos grazing off to my right (and some fun argy bargy between two massive bucks going on!!), one of Hill End’s iconic churches in the background … the typical wonky wooden fences … mapgies warbling and bush parrots greeting the dawn … I am not sure how I tore myself away to get in the car and drive home. Believe me, it was not easy!!!
BTW my travel companion proved his worth on roads of all types, and is now a darker shade of ‘dirt’!!!
