The odd couple ~ Living Museum, Junee NSW by

These washing machines from a bygone era reside happily on the back verandah of Junee’s Living Museum … just one of many fabulous photo ops in this quaint “pub-like” historic building with lace verandahs and masses of atmosphere.

Taken on the recent RB Rumble to Junee

I suffer from viewfinder vision (find myself visualising a frame around everything I see) so my genre is “anything that moves and most things that don’t”!!

I don’t so much wish to document places and things, as to evoke feeling and emotion.

This leads to a diverse portfolio and constantly overloaded external hard drives…not to mention some burning of the midnight oil as I keep looking for that elusive perfect process for yet another ‘masterpiece’!!!

We see what we want to see Rosalie – and this indeed looks like an old odd married couple! She’s in high heels, a bit tubby, a few wrinkles and scratches on the paintwork and the rollers deteriorating, but a sturdy and durable model none the less, obviously showing years of hard work. He’s getting very rusty in the body and his eye is misting over. The pressure gauge is no longer working and hydraulics and plumbing have seen better days – looks like it’s leaking a bit – and there could also be a screw loose here or there…. An interesting picture! :)george

  • You got it in one George! I almost wondered if I should ‘filter’ this image! Glad it appealed to your imagination… thank you for the fav. :)

Beautiful old relics there Rosalie. The one on the left looks familiar. Cool processing.

  • My mum had one similar to the one of the left Michael – a great improvement on the old copper! Thanks for the fav mate.

Sad. I remember ones like the one on the left.
    Great processing Rosalie.

  • Wonder what our kids will be saying in about 30 odd years Gail! By then clothes will probably be air-cleaned while they hang in the wardrobe!!!

they make a great couple, would beat Bev & Phil’s record I think! My gran had the one on the left and I remember getting my fingers caught in the wringer (ouchies!)

  • Ahhh Mandy this wringer is a little forgiving – I had a finger caught in an old mangle as a child and was lucky we had a creative country GP who managed to graft and salvage part of it for me! The things we do without thinking … I agree these are a wonderful couple! Bev and Phil are more good looking!
