The Kitchen - Sir Donald Bradman's home - Temora NSW by

A cameo from the kitchen of the slab hut from Sir Donald Bradman’s childhood home. The hardwood slab hut has been moved from nearby Yeo Yeo siding to the Museum area at Temora and is well worth a visit. For those attending the Junee RB Rumble in March, this is a very do-able ‘on your way home’ detour!!

I suffer from viewfinder vision (find myself visualising a frame around everything I see) so my genre is “anything that moves and most things that don’t”!!

I don’t so much wish to document places and things, as to evoke feeling and emotion.

This leads to a diverse portfolio and constantly overloaded external hard drives…not to mention some burning of the midnight oil as I keep looking for that elusive perfect process for yet another ‘masterpiece’!!!

How many people churn their own butter nowdays? An interesting trip back in time and the link to Temora is interesting looking and reading. Very nicely processed and presented picture. :)george

  • I find the various forms of churns interesting – one from Monte Cristo was larger and freestanding (still wood construction) but this is a table-top version. I can remember taking turns turning a churn handle as a youngster…as well as dad’s early rising to milk the cow (and later the goat!) AND using wooden butter pats to form the butter once it was ready. They don’t make spread like that any more! Thanks so much for the favouriting George. :+)

Hard to imagine The Don ate what come from this machine. Nice capture.

  • Good old Sir Donald had very humble beginnings! The cottage he was born in was not much more upmarket than this either. Thanks heaps Mark for the favouriting … appreciated.

looking good Rosalie, love the tones, its going to be a busy time at junee

  • Monte Cristo’s churn at Junee is another one to work HDR magic on Philip – it is a real winner. But anyone who has a couple of hours after the Junee marathon will be well advised to take the Temora route home. Thanks for adding this to your favs Philip.

It’s a great HDR Rosalie, very subtle (just the way I like it)…

  • Actually I’m struggling with the latest version of Photomatix Sharon – it doesn’t seem to be as sensitive as the older versions were. Maybe it is just a matter of me getting used to it but it tends to default to quite an ‘overdone’ look initially which is annoying! Glad you like it – Me2 xx

Great shot Rosalie. Home made butter. Yum.

  • You’re not wrong, and I’m convinced it is better for us than the ‘plastic’ stuff they sell in supermarkets! Thanks Gail.
