Ackerman's Cottage cameo No 4 ~ Hill End NSW by

Taken in historic Hill End (NSW Australia) on a RedBubble “rumble” over Easter 2011. A bathroom image from Ackerman’s cottage, still lived in today by a 5th generation member of the Ackerman family. Taken with permission.

Much TLC in CS5, edged, and a photo of rust and another of peeling paint blended to suitably age the image and give it a vintage effect.

I suffer from viewfinder vision (find myself visualising a frame around everything I see) so my genre is “anything that moves and most things that don’t”!!

I don’t so much wish to document places and things, as to evoke feeling and emotion.

This leads to a diverse portfolio and constantly overloaded external hard drives…not to mention some burning of the midnight oil as I keep looking for that elusive perfect process for yet another ‘masterpiece’!!!

    superb treatment Rosalie

  • As always don’t ask me to document what I did – and, again it was a tossup between mono and colour. Decisions, decisions! Thanks Mandy – your fav means a lot.

Lovely textures and I know what it’s like to decide colour or mono, this looks lovely as is Rosalie, I love these old wash basis and jugs, lovely image, well done :o)xox

  • Thanks Josie. It wasn’t an ‘in your face’ type of image so I am quite content with the subdued result. Glad you like it! xx

Very nice take representing a period long ago….maybe the mono helps to show it’s past time.
All my youth I only knew mono and we wished for what we thought impossible “colour shots”
Now we have them and many people go back to mono.I must admit for some shots it’s more dramatic

Wonderful image Rosalie. I vote for the mono image. Color would not be nearly as dramatic and would tell a whole different story.

  • Appreciated Bryan, very much. You are right, colour really turns an image into something else.
