Books are the quietest and most constant of friends by

“Books are the quietest and most constant of friends” is a quote by Charles W Elliot.

Having learned to read before I was five, and living my early years in country isolation, books became my friends to such an extent that I not only filled walls and boxes with them, I worked on most sides of the publishing industry.

I have a growing, precious collection of very old tomes which hold pride of place on my bookshelves.

I suffer from viewfinder vision (find myself visualising a frame around everything I see) so my genre is “anything that moves and most things that don’t”!!

I don’t so much wish to document places and things, as to evoke feeling and emotion.

This leads to a diverse portfolio and constantly overloaded external hard drives…not to mention some burning of the midnight oil as I keep looking for that elusive perfect process for yet another ‘masterpiece’!!!

OH YES!Nothing beats the peace & bliss of a good book!
and the e-book won’t take their place completely!
what a gorgeous shot of them – instant fave! ♥
    Chookas! ♥Ü♥

  • I just can’t get my head around e-books – how can it be a book if it doesn’t have pages to turn or bookmark, if you don’t have to break in the spine before you open it and rub the leather binding from time to time with oil to preserve it? I wonder if we could get them to change the name! Thanks for the fav Alyssa … much appreciated.

You’re so good at this type of photography and this is another classic work of art. Your imagination in producing the perfect setting to complement your subject knows no bounds. A superb piece of work.

  • I felt a right twit carting a pile of ‘stuff’ around the immigration centre (in the rain!) trying out various scenarios … thankfully there was only a painter and the ranger around at the time. So pleased this series appeals Peter. Thank you xx

This is great Rosalie … I too love books and can’t resist collecting Australiana in particular … I do love this shot … very nostalgic feel♥

  • I scour second hand bookshops for anything really old … will have to invest in a special cabinet I suspect – dust is playing havoc with them. Pleased you catch the nostalgia Bev.

Love the SC Rosalie and the glasses well placed, I love reading, I find it very relaxing, will not go to bed without a book, this is very beatiful, a lovely image :o)

  • I share my bed with a few books – can’t sleep without them (and often don’t sleep with them as I stay awake trying to finish one!). The glasses are dad’s old pair actually. Pleased you like it Josie…thank you
