Carcoar NSW ~ Stoke Stables Museum by

Stoke Museum was built in the 1840s by convicts from random stone, making it the oldest remaining building in the village. Its original use was as stables for the nearby pub. Much of the display is rusting memorabilia and wooden carts arranged outdoors where you can wander and ponder at your leisure.

New South Wales boasts many quaint rural gems when it comes to towns and villages – and Carcoar has to be up there with the best. There is a genuine feeling of walking into a movie set as you wander around the streets and lovingly preserved buildings.

Gazetted in 1839, the village has been classified by the National Trust, and boasts a population of only 400. Locals will proudly tell you it has the appearance and ambience of old England.

Well worth a visit if you are driving west … allow at least half a day if you want to do the area justice, as it has many craft / museum / nursery / pottery / scenic lures to tempt the visitor to linger longer!

I suffer from viewfinder vision (find myself visualising a frame around everything I see) so my genre is “anything that moves and most things that don’t”!!

I don’t so much wish to document places and things, as to evoke feeling and emotion.

This leads to a diverse portfolio and constantly overloaded external hard drives…not to mention some burning of the midnight oil as I keep looking for that elusive perfect process for yet another ‘masterpiece’!!!
