Aussie bush evening by Rosalie Dale

Sunsets are all very well, but occasionally, if you take a moment to look around, you can find something really special.

With an iconic windmill in the background and the late light catching the rich ochre of a strip of fallen bark on the barbed wire fence, this shot was too good to miss.

Taken in the Southern Highlands of NSW (Australia), somewhere on a narrow dirt road between "The Robertson Pie Shop ":http://maps.google.com.au/maps/place?rls=com.mi... (steak & kidney is highly recommended!), and Bowral.

I suffer from viewfinder vision (find myself visualising a frame around everything I see) so my genre is “anything that moves and most things that don’t”!!

I don’t so much wish to document places and things, as to evoke feeling and emotion.

This leads to a diverse portfolio and constantly overloaded external hard drives…not to mention some burning of the midnight oil as I keep looking for that elusive perfect process for yet another ‘masterpiece’!!!

Lovely shot Rosalie, was the pie as good as this shot?

  • That’s a trick question! Actually the pie shop is legendary – out in the middle of nowhere at the junction of a couple of roads, people make the trip especially often (especially bikers!). Thanks so much for the fav my friend.

This is stunning – and what a quintessential Australian image this is! :)

  • I have to confess I went into overdrive when I spotted it, as the light was fading fast and it was so iconic … all thumbs trying to change the settings and fire a few quick shots! Thanks for the encouragement Adriana.
