Laughter through tears is my favourite emotion. Steel Magnolias

A very wet few days has resulted in some dying roses with droplets. It is a challenge working out how best to present these without creating a ‘ho hum, another rose shot’ image!

Three photos – processed in CS3, desaturated a little – a photo of scratched metal, another of raindrops on metal blended with the original of a rain-soaked dying rose. Text added in CS3.

I suffer from viewfinder vision (find myself visualising a frame around everything I see) so my genre is “anything that moves and most things that don’t”!!

I don’t so much wish to document places and things, as to evoke feeling and emotion.

This leads to a diverse portfolio and constantly overloaded external hard drives…not to mention some burning of the midnight oil as I keep looking for that elusive perfect process for yet another ‘masterpiece’!!!

How you keep coming up with these masterpieces I do not know! You have transformed an unphotographable object into a thing of beauty. Wonderfully well done.
    Take care

  • I think it has something to do with age Peter! One gets to appreciate the beauty that comes with maturity, even in flowers. Trust all’s well on your end my friend … appreciate you taking time to comment. xx

Its just not the rose its how the photos are blended to give a perfect emphasis to the theme that I find deeply beautiful.

  • John thank you for your wonderfully considered comment, and the favouriting – much appreciated.

    G’day ROSALIE!

I feel you have done an excellent job with this one kiddo.
The subject, the photography, the chosen backgrounds and the blending have all created emotive imagery to support the text very well indeed.

  • This required a few trial-and-error attempts with the backgrounds Dennis – it is something like using clay to fashion a statue, I sometimes think! Bit by bit, layer by layer, putting and taking till it tells a story … this one seemed to match the quote from one of my favourite movies, Steel Magnolias! I am pleased it appeals to you – thank you for the encouragement.
