A couple of old leather valises / hatboxes in a little anteroom at Monte Cristo … a beautifully restored historic home at Junee (NSW, Australia). Junee also boasts an amazing licorice and chocolate factory … ! Well worth a visit.

Processed in Photomatix (single jpeg x 3 at 0.3ev) and fiddled in CS3.
Another photo of rust blended in to complete the aged look and take away from distracting surroundings!

I suffer from viewfinder vision (find myself visualising a frame around everything I see) so my genre is “anything that moves and most things that don’t”!!

I don’t so much wish to document places and things, as to evoke feeling and emotion.

This leads to a diverse portfolio and constantly overloaded external hard drives…not to mention some burning of the midnight oil as I keep looking for that elusive perfect process for yet another ‘masterpiece’!!!

BOO monte christo hasthe reputation of being one of the most haunted places in australia , good work rosalie

  • It sure does – nine ghosts at last count! Reg and his wife came home one evening, before they managed to get electricity connected many years ago, to see lights in the windows … from that moment they realised something was a tad different about the ‘old girl’!! Thanks so much for the fav Philip … we are looking at a RB get together down there in a couple months … interested?!

Great processing Rosalie. Works well for these old girls.

  • A bit of blood sweat and tears on these – they were not responding as I thought they should, and were very lost against that brocade bedspread and really bright cupboard to the left … forced me into some lateral thinking!

Nice shot. I love hat boxes.
I’ve driven past many times but never gone in. I’d be up for a RB get together at Junee.
    Cheers

Aren’t they fantastic, I love old hat boxes, you have made them look stunning Rosalie, well done.

  • Some of the new (old!) hatboxes are quaint but these genuine old ones are beauties Josie. Thanks for the lovely words.
