The deceivingly demure exterior of the beautifully restored Monte Cristo Homestead at Junee (NSW, Australia). Now listed as Australia’s most haunted home, this building has an amazing history … too long and colourful to list here!
Junee also boasts an amazing licorice and chocolate factory … housed in a huge old Mill! Also well worth a visit.
This was a walk down memory lane as, 35 years ago, we visited Monte Cristo often when this was a partly restored old home sitting in a paddock on the edge of town. Those same owners still live here, continuing to indulge their love of restoration and history, along with the nine ghosts, and new homes climbing the hill in stark contrast to the stately old homestead and outbuildings.
