Kate's Cottage ~ Kitchen by Rosalie Dale

Our infamous bushranger, Ned Kelly, has always had my sympathy – I do believe I understand his reaction to circumstances surrounding his family!!
On my recent road trip back from Melbourne, I called in at Glenrowan – 25 kilometres from Benalla. One of the attractions is a huge Ned Kelly statue and a museum called Kate’s Cottage, which has all sorts of interesting artifacts on display. It depicts how the Kelly family lived, and shows a replica of Ned’s suit of armour, weapons and items of the era. (Photos were taken with verbal permission …)
Note the gun slung across the stove front – complimented by an organ on the other wall. Something for everyone in this kitchen! .

I suffer from viewfinder vision (find myself visualising a frame around everything I see) so my genre is “anything that moves and most things that don’t”!!

I don’t so much wish to document places and things, as to evoke feeling and emotion.

This leads to a diverse portfolio and constantly overloaded external hard drives…not to mention some burning of the midnight oil as I keep looking for that elusive perfect process for yet another ‘masterpiece’!!!

Oh Rosalie – I simply adore images like this with that warmth of nostalgia. I must have been away when you posted the others – but I just love this to bits!

  • Thanks for the fav Lianne – these scenes have to be among my favourites also – I just love anything nostalgic and historic.

oh super pic Rosalie glad I don’t have this kitchen [ LOL laminex rules ]although very similar to my Grandmas’ [I lived next door so spent days in there] although again very flash one to what she had, [in the 1940/50 ies] we used to drive though her all the time and never bothered to stop ! crazy !!! missed so much ….

  • Most of us take for granted what we drive past every day – strange to see it through other people’s eyes, sometimes! Thanks for the lovely comments – so pleased it brought back memories. I’m a country girl so I sure do remember some homes similar to this … :)

Apart from such a brilliant shot and great exposure, iI feel all warm and cosy !

  • Having used flash this time Di it was quite a less-than-ordinary shot – I love the challenge of getting these shots back through processing and making something of them. I am so pleased you like it – thank you.

As Dennis would say “You’r cooking on gas” great pp ork with this HDR and the comp is fffffantastic.

  • A little bit of Mike Savad type processing here to get this back from being a bit washed out – I haven’t got a handle of Mike’s technique fully, but am working on it! Unfortunately when they have ropes across you can’t move around to get better angles – stuck with what they give you!!! Thanks Warren.
