Recent king tides along our coastline offered endless opportunities for thumping great shots of massive waves!! It is difficult to do them justice within a frame – and to choose between the umpteen shots one ends up with!!

Taken at Whale Beach in the Northern Beaches area of Sydney Australia – January 09.

I suffer from viewfinder vision (find myself visualising a frame around everything I see) so my genre is “anything that moves and most things that don’t”!!

I don’t so much wish to document places and things, as to evoke feeling and emotion.

This leads to a diverse portfolio and constantly overloaded external hard drives…not to mention some burning of the midnight oil as I keep looking for that elusive perfect process for yet another ‘masterpiece’!!!

Fantastic capture Rosalie, love how you’ve captured the wave just as it hits the rocks, smashing (forgive the pun)

  • Thanks for the ‘smashing’ comment Josie! I took so many shots some of them had to catch waves at the right moment!

    G’day Rosalie,

You have done a great job with the technical and the timing but oh dear you have cut the top off the wave!
Go on – back to the beach! ;-)

  • Ha – I do have shots that are further away, AND that are closer – there is also a 3rd party shot which shows where I was standing and why the top of this is cut off – maybe that will be uploaded at a later date! Thanks for the kind words Dennis – appreciated.
