Sales!!

What a great end to 2011!!! Just had notification that someone has bought a framed print of Inner City Lifestyle #2 … a lovely surprise

Over the past few weeks, a few cards have also sold. THANK YOU to my (mostly) anonymous buyers – it is such a buzz to be validated in this way!

Wishing everyone a wonderfully happy and prosperous 2012. Right at this moment, I’ve ‘gone bush’ and am off to meet the new owners of the Junee Tourist Park so we can establish a rapport before the Rhythm ’n Rail RedBubble Rumble to be held in the town in March. That is only 2 months away – time will fly!!

Eureka!!!

I found Philip Johnson’s jigsaws in Myer today and was able to finish off my Christmas shopping!!! These looked so impressive on the shelf ABOVE Ken Duncan pano jigsaws (!!) and my friend was so impressed she added a few to her Christmas purchases also!!

There are eight in the series, only these four available at Castle Towers (Castle Hill, Sydney NSW) and still some left on the shelves. Brilliant gift idea, even better when we can name-drop and say we know the artist.

Be proud Philip – they look amazing! Now to see if I can put one of these together …. may need the help of my grandkids I suspect.

Sale - thankyou Bev!

Well, Bev Woodman had such a good time at today’s Rumble at the Pioneer Village that she’s bought a card to remember it by!!! Thanks so much Bev. We may have to clone in the few who went awol!!!

A Sale!!

How to cheer up a wet Sunday … open RB to find a sale!!!

Many thanks to the buyer of a greeting card of Thump! … a Whale Beach wave to remember! There were massive seas that day.

Some gear for sale ...

If any locals (Sydney – Australia) are interested, send me a BM.

I just put this on Facebook so, first in best dressed!!

Some serious spring cleaning happening … Wacom Intuos tablet up for grabs … used maybe twice (works fine – just didn’t persevere with it!!). Also Canon 300D with battery pack, charger etc. Probably more gear as I psych myself up for it!

Oh and also a large matt cutting thingo when I can find the cutting bit… Otherwise one extremely long metal ruler!!! :)

Pre Christmas RB Rumble meetup - Aussie style!!

Rumblers and locals – You asked for it!!!! Hope you can join us 6th November at the Australiana Pioneer Village at Wilberforce, 10am – 4pm … see Philip’s journal entry here for more details. An ‘event’ has been created on FB also.

This is the set for the town where Wild Boys was filmed. Maybe we should come dressed as bushrangers and wenches?!!!! There’ll be plenty of shooting – with cameras instead of guns!

Need to know numbers so please let us know if you are coming. (Can we call attendees “The Village People”?!!)

More sales ...

It must be in the air! As well as the 17 cards sold on RB recently, today, a black girly T-shirt of “Girls Just Want to Have Fun” went to an anonymous buyer. Thank you, whoever it is … you have no idea what a buzz it is to receive this type of news!

Junee RB Rumble visuals!!

OK here is some visual inspiration for those contemplating joining us for the 2012 Rumble at Junee, NSW (first weekend in March). The Tourist Park is immaculate and beautifully kept. Gail and I sussed it out last Sunday … (please note when you book they won’t give you a firm price – utility costs … electricity/water etc … are set to hike, and it will mean present prices of $75 – $105 pn will rise maybe $20 or so by next year).

No 13 was the only unoccupied cabin for us to inspect on the day – it sleeps 5.

Main bedroom is very comfy, it even has its own TV!

Bedroom No 2 has 2 singles, and a drop down bunk for the brave, or young-at-heart

The bathroom is more pristine than my own one at home! Impressive.

Enough space in the kitchen to swing a cat!

T Shirt Sale!!

There is going to be one very well dressed 3-6mth old bub out there soon, wearing my t-shirt design which says “I’m dad’s best photographic model” in glorious green! Woohoo!!!

Many thanks to the anonymous buyer. :+)

Great photo ops for Aviation fans ...

Temora Aviation Museum (NSW – Australia) is a fantastic place to spend a day shooting some amazing old aircraft in flight, as well as on the ground. While the museum is open normal hours, they also showcase specific planes with guest pilots twice a month, provide a BBQ, and allow you into the workshop to watch activities there as well … here is their schedule till end of February next year.

July 2nd, 2011 Aircraft Showcase – Biplanes to Jets – Tiger Moth, Ryan, AZ-27B, Sabre, Matt Hall
July 16th, 2011 Aircraft Showcase – Fighters – Spitfire, Boomerang, Meteor
August 6th, 2011 Aircraft Showcase – American Designed – Ryan, Hudson, Sabre

Thank you (a sale)!!

It is always exciting to receive Mr Baxter’s “You’ve made a sale” email … Joanna just purchased a card of
The rose speaks of love silently … A fantabulous way to start the week!

That is an older image – which vindicates my decision not to delete pics from my ‘previous life’ … it is amazing how many times they are the ones that people gravitate to.

Thanks again Joanna … I’m buzzed!

The next RB Rumble in NSW!!!

Philip Johnson has just put up a Journal regarding our next Rumble … the Junee Rhythm ‘n Rail Festival. While it is on the first weekend in March next year, they are talking about extending it to make it a ’long weekend’ – with heaps to do in the area, that would be fantastic. With such a lot of notice, many of us should be able to organise a Friday/Monday off work and take advantage of the ‘tourist free’ couple of days to get some great shots.

Please express interest to Philip or myself, or follow Philip’s link to the Facebook Event and put your hand up over there! We are looking at securing cabins in the beautiful caravan park – hopefully within cooee of each other so we can again share the communal fun that happened at Hill End!

Sales!

What a wonderful warm Thursday fuzzy … Sue Wickham today purchased my “Born to take photos, forced to work” Hoodie to help combat the winter chills while she’s out and about (thank you, thank you, thank you!!) … and earlier this week Philip purchased “Monet Moment No 2” as a card.

Huge appreciation to both – it sure does help to keep the dream alive (to borrow Dennis’ phrase!)

NEW "Goldfields & Mining Towns of NSW" Group

For those who have a love affair with our Aussie history, click here to join the new Goldfields and Mining Towns of NSW Group … uploading will open shortly once a couple if things are sorted.

As long as your image has been taken in a goldfield / mining area of New South Wales, you may join and submit … making sure the location is clearly outlined in the discription. Two images per day please to be fair to all concerned, and stay tuned for challenges and voucher prizes.

Philip, Bev and I are so looking forward to discovering new delights and enjoying old scenes taken from a new perspective.

It's good news week!

Firstly (as those who are on Facebook will know already) I discovered a First, a Second and a Highly Commended adorning three of my images in the Bathurst Show (NSW Australia) a week or so ago, and …

Secondly this afternoon received news that Books are the Quietest and Most Constant of Friends has taken second place in the Evoke Your Senses competition run in aid of the Fred Hollows Foundation. Woohoo! (Lovely to see my granddaughter Zoe also has a Highly Commended in her agegroup).

It takes effort to enter these comps, but if you don’t have a go, you’ll never never know … if you shy away from these things, make this the year to give it a whirl!

Oh and a couple of RB sales add to the joy …

Today's dose of 'cute' ...

A few little rays of sunshine I thought I’d share – my daughter Sarah’s current work involves photographing newborns for Footprints Nursery in Sydney. Finding unique props was a problem, so out came my knitting needles and crochet hooks … here are a few of the many caps, wraps, cocoons, and resulting pics. (Used with permission)

Now it is a toss-up whether my time is spent with needles in hand, or taking and processing photos!

$25 RB Voucher available ~ Hill End Challenge

Whether or not you actually live in Sydney (Australia), you are being encouraged to join and take part in a Challenge running at the moment for your best shot from Hill End (no restrictions on date taken). As many of you know, a recent meetup was held there, so in fact this could be a kind of shoot-out between those who’ve been before, and those who went recently! Show us your best, and we’ll see who ends up with the $25 voucher!

Ready, set, go! Click here

The Rumbling of Hill End over Easter 2011

The excitement was palpable as just on 30 RedBubblers converged on Historic Hill End for the Easter break, brandishing cameras and all manner of photographic gear … the RedBubble Rumble was about to commence! (I’ve never seen anyone as pumped as Wazza as he anticipated the fun to come … up for anything, into everything, never without camera and tripod in hand … !!).

Highlights included …

  • Consternation by most on finding there was NO (or for some, extremely erratic) mobile phone coverage! Culture shock?!
  • Brilliant avenue of autumn colours, and PERFECT weather!
  • The heroic trip from Tasmania by the Youngs – great to see you both!
  • Philip Johnson’s tireless (well – almost!) enthusiasm for getting us out for 5am sunrise starts EVERY morning! And what glor

Home page - but that's not all!!

I arrived home from the theatre tonight to receive an email from Philip Johnson giving me the thumbs up on a Home Page Feature (Braving the Elements). Naturally that added a buzz to the evening.

BUT on opening Home Page I found that my dear old late dad, Vic Cross has his Philip Lodge BW featured – and Bill Fonseca, Warren Williams, and George Petrovsky also have images on the front page! Huge thanks to CapturedbyKylie who chose a Baulkham Hills Shire Council themed page … little does she know that she almost also filled a complete page with former DPF site members as well!

Thank you Kylie, especially on behalf of dad … xxx
