Pioneer Park ~ No 1
The last of the morning mist in Pioneer Park (Cootamundra, NSW Australia) taken during a brief visit this week.
I never tire of the subtle colours of the Aussie bush (and a rusty, crusty gate always helps!)

Rosalie this work is stunning a truly beautiful piece Well done! ☼
But I can’t love it because of the Mistletoe killing that tree (the red clusters hanging off the Gum tree on the right)
This pest is killing our bush!
This pest was brought here so some Regent period silly girl could kiss her beau at Christmas!
The cockies love it eat the berries sit on another tree and pass the seeds that then germinate in a crevice of the limb and feed on the sap of the tree effectively killing it! As much as Blackberry and Patterson Curse and Strangler vine are destroying the rest of our vegetation this menace is killing our ancient gums!
and they cannot stop it! Because the cockies sit up in the crowns of the trees some 60-80 feet in the air & they cant see the clusters until the tree has been infiltrated and thus already dying!
The worst I’ve seen is along the western Highway between Arrarat and Horsham in Victoria. Not that I want Bushfires but perhaps this is required to stop this pest like it has eradicated the Pattersons Curse & blackberries from the areas “Sterilized” by the Black Sat Fires
So this picture I fave to show people the results of European Infiltration on our very unique country!
Chookas! ♥
Rosalie Dale IPA replied
As I took this shot I thought it was ironic that one of the features that gave this shot some ‘colour’ was the wretched mistletoe!!! I appreciate your concern – like many ‘imported’ animals and plants it has certainly turned out to be a pest. xxx

Sorry to read about misteltoe killing your gum trees, Rosalie.
But you image here is wonderful. I really like your light and warm colours, and the soft processing is excellent.
Rosalie Dale IPA replied
Thanks Keld .. we have quite a few introduced pests … keeps life interesting! However in this instance I do like the colour it adds to the scene. Now I’ve taken the photo, the Council can go and eradicate it!

This reminds me of a Namatjira painting. All it needs now is a Henry Lawson poem and you have the ultimate “Aussie Icon” shot. Love the colours, texture and POV in this, just makes me want to get out in the bush again for a holiday.
Rosalie Dale IPA replied
OK on with the writing hat now – or perhaps I should search out a HL piece to match this! Great idea … thank you for the lovely comment.
