Every one of these old roses is unique – I’m getting quite attached to them! I am pleased you like it Gilberte – thank you.

My first aim was to produce three for Sarah’s exhibition she has happening here on this side of the city soon – I’ll have to go scouting for some more appropriate specimens after that! I realise there are a few necessary elements to these shots – amazing how tricky it can be to get it all right! Thanks Margo for the encouragement once again, and inspiration for the series title.

It is not all that difficult Steve … the hardest part is finding a texture that echoes some of the feel and colour of the original shot … that often takes the most time! Thanks so much for the kind words.

There is a trick to these compilations Warren – to catch the imagination or evoke an emotion you need to link everything – the tones and saturation, the sense of age (dying rose, rusting metal), the lighting … and sometimes you don’t know what works till, like Thomas Edison, you have found 1000 ways NOT to do it!! I have another couple of ideas to try yet. Trust they won’t become boring for the viewers!
