The Family Bible

This cameo was in a dark corner, but I couldn’t bypass it! Have fiddled in PS and blended a second photo of pebbles to add to the aged look.

    Warren Williams

I would like to see a bit more light on this image.

  • Rosalie Dale IPA replied

At home I have had success with a small LED torch in this type of situation (experimenting!) – if I knew this was going to pop up Warren I would have put the torch in my pocket! It works so much better than flash.

Beautiful picture. You have shown the Holly bible in a very nice manner by using the single light. You were able to draw the attention of viewrs to the Bible as the caption says. In my view, this is a prize winning picture. Very well done Rosalie.

  • Rosalie Dale IPA replied

I am so pleased you like it Satwant … I will have to try for another shot on a different day with different lighting and see how it goes. Thank you!

This is very beautiful Rosalie, I love the lighting and the glasses give it that lovely finishing touch, very well done. (I also use a LED torch sometimes, works a treat)

  • Rosalie Dale IPA replied

IT is fascinating seeing the results of a torch – it really is like painting!! Takes a bit of getting used to, but is magic for darker shots. Thanks Josie for the encouragement.

  • Ted Byrne

    Ted Byrne

The photographic artist actually uses us as part of her composition. She finds things in our memories, experiences, and feelings which she can assemble into a combustible pile… and then she merely ignites it. “Merely”? Um well when she makes it look as easy… as simple… as you have here Rosalie… well it looks as if “merely” applies. And that is because a brilliant idea always seems obvious just as soon as the insightful person who conceived the idea – shows it to us.

Sigh… I am now going off to try to “merely” do something this insightful…. And ignite…. a pile of… Er…. how’d you do that assembly stuff again? Gotta think on that.

    Wonderful work Rosalie.

  • Rosalie Dale IPA replied

Ted you do have a way with words (I was going to keep going here with alliteration but thought better of it! May end up with tongue-in-knot syndrome!). Thank you so much for your inisightful comment – it really resonates. I ALWAYS intend my shots to suggest a story … you have expressed that sentiment beautifully. THANK YOU!
