Gerroa is an idyllic village at the Kiama end of Seven Mile Beach on the south coast of New South Wales … their sunset on Tuesday (6 January 08) was aided by smoke haze from bushfires in the Morton National Forest. After a day in which temperatures reached 40 degrees celsius and beyond, there were plenty of relaxed holiday-makers still enjoying the ambience, the breeze and the spectacular skies.

    I sat and looked at this for a long time on the screen Sarah – those 3 board riders’ stance is just as though they’d been asked to pose! Out of a few shots of this scene, I think this one was the best. Thanks heaps!

    G’day Rosalie,

    Beautiful exposure of that glorious light and the tones are marvellous.
    The central vertical compositionworks quite well with the panoramic format and the people walking almost out of frame goes equally well with the title and mood.
    The shadows look great in the forground and the sun has been handled very well.
    A real eye catcher!

I really took a deep breath and shot with some fear the trepidation directly into the sun but I think I got away with it a few times on this shoot. And each time, with strollers and joggers involved, I thought “hmmm a bit of a DG scene this one!!” So I’m pleased you approve!

    Excellent sunset, like the tones and you controlled the bright sun. Ok so you won the sunset of the day, next the sunrise which I think in that part of the world will be around 4-50 am.

    You may have to go whistle for the sunrise mate – it is a bit early for my tastes!!! This particular sunset gave a heap of wonderful images despite the lack of cloud – will have to be discretionary in putting them up or everyone will get tired of them! Thanks for the kind words.
