Yep I wondered about the tones myself – tried a different approach and stayed away from the browns / sepia to see how it would turn out with a crisper look. When I get a moment I’ll colour it up a bit and compare. Thanks for the appraisal.

G’day Rosalie,
Another classic!
The concept is good, the props are good and the arrangement and composition are very good.
HOWEVER
In my ‘umble opinion the image seems a bit flat – not enough contrast and therefore lacks a lighter exposure and brighter colours to carry a white/something image.
I feel you could either work on that OR give it an antique/old paper effect.
I lean towards brightening up the image. After all the song is a happy one even if the rose is a bit faded.

I have 5 versions of this Dennis including one which is more along the tones of my usual vintage stuff with the rose lit a bit more – maybe I’ll upload it in the future … would be good to compare the 2. Thanks for the considered opinion and advice – very much appreciated.
