I don’t see any “tutorials” on his page though I did find the advanced HDR lesson plan. Not that I’ve even managed to master what YOU taught me – lol. Perhaps now that I’m spending less time on the bubble I can find some time for PS! Happy New Year Rosalie!

  • Rosalie Dale IPA replied

Yep the advanced HDR lesson plan contains the info that I used. It does take some time to work through the first few tries … but it is worth the effort. Hope you have a great New Year celebration also.

    G’day Rosalie,

    Most impressive my Duralian friend!
Strong composition of a very interesting subject with all the elements arranged nicely.
The processing has treated the original exposure more than kindly to create an image with strong impact that holds the interest very well.
Definitely on my “Must Return” list!

  • Mike Savad

    Mike Savad

it’s not too bad, you have to watch the outline around the clock though. the halo that is. i would remove the books on the left to keep the rest of it simpler, and/or the light wouldn’t hit the vase there because those books would create a shadow on it. but keep playing with it. with this method you’ll find that old photos that just didn’t have that light you wanted can now be used. and you don’t have to wait for that right time of day. you can use whatever lighting you want. it can be overcast, bright, cloudy, rainy, whatever. which was my goal instead of getting a 10% return on usable photos – get a 90% return instead….

    —-Mike Savad

  • Rosalie Dale IPA replied

On looking at the image you are right Mike – I am not used to “painting with light” – it will take some practise!! This certainly was a photo that I would not have used otherwise, it was not good enough so it just shows what the potential is. do appreciate your generousity in sharing your knowledge … now back to the ‘drawing board’ to try another image when I get time!!!

  • Ted Byrne

Your light makes me smile. Your control is gentle, but solid. Odd how artists are such control freaks. It is one part of our lives where we are in complete charge. No wonder art both seduces us to do, and rewards us in its practice. And when it also makes us smile… Whoa! what a payoff, eh? Thanks for this moment Rosalie.

  • Rosalie Dale IPA replied

Thanks for the kind words Ted – this was a ‘rescue’ job with the shot having been a bit of a washout, and no decent light on the subject so there was a fair bit of ‘post’ work, painting with light, to produce this result. I tend to like a challenge which is a bit of a worry! A lot of ‘normal’ shots get overlooked while I work on the duds!!
