Big boys' toys ~ No 1
The Railway Museum at Thirlmere in the Southern Highlands of NSW (about an hour southwest of Sydney Australia) is a treasure trove of ‘big boys’ toys’!!! Must get back for more considered shots … I was unprepared for the huge potential here, and the tricky lighting. A bit more study of the manual and some practise with settings before I go next time.
Big boys' toys ~ No 1 belongs to the following groups:
Australian Landmarks and Icons, Former DPF Members, Rusty, Crusty and Falling to Bits, Sydney and TrainsAvailable for sale as Cards, Matted Prints, Laminated Prints, Mounted Prints, Canvas Prints, Framed Prints and Posters

Rosalie, this is a fantastic shot. I love the way the red really pops.I think you will have to return to this place for sure. The lighting is great. I don’t think you will need to do too much studying.
Jan Piller, 2 months ago
Whoa! that’s a big toy! And so nicely presented!
Loreto Bautist..., 2 months ago
Great work as always…the details, light, colours & composition play harmoniously with each other. Well done.
Rosalie Dale IPA in reply to A90Six’s comment, 2 months ago
Hang about – they have a licence to create a Thomas the Tank Engine so you can really ‘play’ when that is done!!! Thanks for the compliment!
Rosalie Dale IPA in reply to suzannem73’s comment, 2 months ago
It was a bit overwhelming, there was so much to take in Suzanne – certainly will be venturing there again. Thank you for the kind words.
Rosalie Dale IPA in reply to Jan Piller’s comment, 2 months ago
Some of those old engines were MASSIVE – very daunting even without fire and steam billowing! I certainly remember these carting freight along our country lines in the past. Pleased you like it Jan – thank you.

Thanks mate – I was out of my comfort zone lightwise – back on the learning curve! Pleased you like it though – I do appreciate your input.

Rosalie Dale IPA in reply to Kelly Bermingham’s comment, 2 months ago
I’d like it to look something like this straight from the camera Kelly!!! Not asking much … :)
Rosalie Dale IPA in reply to SPQQKY’s comment, 2 months ago
Hi Gordon
A bit of HDR helps to highten the colours and detail – always a fine balance between getting it right and ‘over cooking’ an image though!!
Thanks mate for the kind words.
Rosalie Dale IPA in reply to Craig Hender’s comment, 2 months ago
Thanks for the encouragement Craig.
