  • Warren Williams

    Warren Williams

    Hi,

Stroms approuching are most time GR8 captures and this is one, I first said “ha “she got the horizon wrong , the when I look at the palm trees they are dead upright, how did she get that right.
    So please tell me.

  • Rosalie Dale IPA replied

I had trouble getting this pic aligned Warren as the boat is at an angle, the trees are straight and it leaves the assumed horizon line seeming to be wrong – I just went for ensuring the trees and rock wall were straight in the end! Will have to revisit and relook at the scene in person I suspect! Next time you are over … ! Thanks for the input.

  • Maximus

    Maximus

  • GailD

    GailD

Great comp. Simple, but effective. Love the colouring (processing). You’ll have to start puting some tutorials up youself in the forums.

  • Rosalie Dale IPA replied

It is so hard to put things down in tutorial form because it is different for every image almost!!! This (as mentioned to Dave above) was a mix of HDR from a single image, and fiddling curves in Lab Colour Mode. A bit of an experiment! Thanks Gail. There are a heap of other boat pics from yesterday so I’ll see if I can do it again!

  • Stuart Chapman

    Stuart Chapman

Lovely control over the light and that is a magnificent cloud over and above the hill. Like the strong colours of the boat against the muted tones of the sea and sky.

  • Rosalie Dale IPA replied

That boat was an idea subject Stuart – and the storm was a bonus (an unexpected loud clap of thunder almost ruined the shot!!) ... thanks for the considered comment.

  • johno4280

I plum for No 1 Rosalie, purely because IMHO … the boat is very easy on the eye, laying there in a perfect position, complimented by the palms and the silhouetted hills beyond, topped off with that salubrious golden sky ….... just perfect :))
