  • Warren Mackenzie

    Warren Mackenzie, 2 months ago

Rosalie, while we now live in Ontario I grew up outside Montreal, Quebec and in winter-time soup this coulour was a very common thing to be served. Pea soup is almost a staple of the French Canadian diet, and it’s also delicious. As the pros all tell us the same thing, when there’s water in a photo let it flow toward the bottom, toward the viewer as you have done here. The framing is so perfect too, not just for the background, but the willows also seem to be framing the foreground, if that’s possible. The shoreline is the horizon and it’s properly placed. The bridge is at the 1/3 spot, also properly placed and the reflections give the whole an additional sense of serenity. I guess when you add all that together you can’t do anything but come up with a real ‘winner ’, as you have done. Great stuff!
    Warren

  • Rosalie Dale IPA

Rosalie Dale IPA in reply to Dennis Gay IPA’s comment, 2 months ago

Wow that is a great response Dennis thank you! I purposely didn’t look at last year’s version till I’d finished this, and must confess was a bit perplexed – they are quite different and I wondered if this one was too ‘strong’. So I am encouraged … and grateful you took time to visit! :+) R

Rosalie Dale IPA in reply to Dennis Gay IPA’s comment, 2 months ago

Ah sorry – I forgot to thank you for the favouriting! An honour – and much appreciated.

  • Rosalie Dale IPA

Rosalie Dale IPA in reply to Warren Mackenzie’s comment, 2 months ago

Warren I’m pleased you found this appealing!!! It is a scene which jumps out at one, and doesn’t need a huge amount of thought – it seems to just ‘frame’ itself. As for the pea soup – I could do with a steaming bowl about now – our autumn has a distinct feel of wiinter with snow around and we have the chill factor from it! Thanks so much for your in depth comment. :+) R
