This pic is dedicated to Richard Witham a “man that talks with the spiders”... With all my affection. He is the only one.

(Please….see it in large size)

Mi mamá me ama..
Yo amo a mi mamá…
My mommy loves me…
I love my mommy…..
Meaning mumbles,
munching mushrooms.
Microcosmos,
miniature men-gods.
Fuming suns,
vertical words,
I caress your legs,
spider, Mom.
Warming my fingers,
mental abased,
cannot see your walking,
strange, and distressed.
Fear your eyes,
no way, to get lost,
in a madness of goshts.
Giant, yes,
even I may hold you in my hand,
inoucuous and shy,
my skull feels the shudder
of ancient nightmares.
I wish I could love you,
and talk as I know..
a man…
who did once…
gave his heart,
to your Soul.
I will.. wait,
the New Moon,
dark and bizarre…
and hide under the moss..
waiting for…
your womb..
to lay your inner..
visions of Life.

Zowie.. War of the Worlds meets Spiderman in the dark corners of the mind!!!
    Incredible!!

  • RosaCobos replied

je, je je…..this is part of my city, Ken…it is a real thing, though the mind of the creator is a wonder of mistery and imagination.
The spider is like this….made of bronze….and the place is the Guggenheim Museum of Bilbao….this picture has been taken from the other side of the river, our river….When I was a young woman, until I married .. I lived just in front of it… but then… all the river was full of boats, great chargers… mostly. Lived there…for 21 years…now is the Museum… the Spider called “Mamma”....Mother…she is having eggs… are there almost to be laid in one instant…. she is beautiful….I just…texturized a bit the background….great titanium covered walls…all titanium …that have to be cleaned wuite often, for Bilbao is rainy and smoky…and they dirt with easiness. And that is all….I love it…yes.

Hi David, thank you so. The picture was hard for writing a poem..I have been for some time trying to get my intuition dictate…and well…it came suddenly… having to do with my aprehension towards the aracnids…and well Life came meaning as usual..the idea of hiding under the moss or the turf is great…there are many creatures and it is smelly and fresh in summer. Poetry is like tht.. not always you know what you are talking about.
    Thanks a lot David.

¡Imagen y poesia fantastica Rosa!

Gracias…

Oh darn, now that I have seen this I won’t sleep tonight, nightmares all night long being eaten by a spider talking man, wonderful and words.

  • RosaCobos replied

    I do not beleive you!!!!
This is what Bob Dylan said to the public in one of his England’s concerts…
    You’re a liar!!!!!
    He also said that…
And I say….she will not eat anybody. Waiting for a long time to her laying her eggs…. but I do not think that spiders do it… just place them somewhere…. and then…. they are born with their bodies all formed…..and running like mad things…. and I get crazy… shuddering….
    Thank you so Larry.

Ahh good old Mamma. I love that piece of art and the entire Guggenheim building. Great accompanying words too. I love the size comparison from people to spider and the “rising mist” around everything. Seems like normality in a very abnormal place! I love it.

  • RosaCobos replied

It is impressive… yes… you see I find so homely walking under her body….never feel tired of her… and always surprised. The rising mist forms part of the “show”....and created a perfect environ … specially in that warm and so sunny August day….Sometimes is like a dream… really.
Thank you for your kind presence.

this is an amazing picture rosa. i love the steam rising up around the base.

this spider, or one like it lived an in the tate modern (art gallery) in london for a while though i never got around to visiting it.

  • RosaCobos replied

She is a twin then… I know there are others around the world…never mind…the work os so magnificent … hope she will outlive us all… in many generations… pray for it… to show how the artists of the old times worshipped the animals….just for their beauty and profound interrelation.
    Thank you so.

Hi rosa – long time no speak .. great shot! I suspect the spider is by sculptor Louise Bourgoise (not sure if i spelt that correctly).. she’s one of my favourite artists, and actually a big influence. Hope you’re well x

  • RosaCobos replied

Thank you so. She is in fact… to be there for ever… (if this word has a real meaning for us) I am well … quite gusy. Opened a group here…Tarot: Map of Consciousness… I invite every Tarot lover to meet the works and words about this theme.I am happy for you having visited me…have a hug!

Amazing sculpture. It must be weird to walk beneath a spider so large – a beautiful spider – unmoving (fortunately) – not like the normal sized ones that skitter and rush in circles! I like the cloud formations you have added – causing a mist and a certain mystery to arise. I see this sculpture or similar was at the Tate Modern – a shame – I would have loved to visit.

  • RosaCobos replied

Sorry, Lindsay… skippend you wonderful comment. Are you afraid of them too?.... rather disgusted… I can stand the little ones, but coming to a size….gosh!!!!. a creep.. a shudder along the spine will make me jump back. It seems we are lucky for having her… oh.. I will tell her next time I will walk under her full belly.
    Thank you so…
