A story about two grandchildren on a sleep-over at Nana and Grandad’s…Grandad flies his kite out through the bathroom window as he has his evening shower. Nana takes the Grandchildren into the garden to watch as the kite dances on the breeze…A story written in rhyming verse by the artist, it looks at Dementia in those we love and how we can ease, not only our own concerns over the effects, but the concerns of children/grandchildren and the apparent loss of the person they thought they knew…(Looking for a publisher)

Wow, what a powerful storyline! I really hope you do find a publisher! This would be a very useful and powerful children’s book.

  • Thanks Vestque…I think the rhyme and verse format of the text has been a problem for publishers, they seem to view it as a poetry book with pics – poetry is a small niche market – rather than a children’s picture book…ah well, one day…

    Hey Rory,
i am looking for some kites and i came accross this drawing from you. i am a host from colours outside the lines . I just looked trough your gallery and i think this would be a great group for you. We work around illustrations and every month we have a new theme. this month the theme is kites. So this illustration would be great. So go and take a look, maybe you can join and submit this illustration as your first.
also take a look at the forum, maybe there is something fun to do for you.

    greets Sanne

  • Thanks for the heads up on the group Sanne…will follow up on your advice.
