Ducks on a "Bird-made-lake" (Acrylic Gouache on Illust Board)

The most recently finished illustration for a personal project – Birds of a Feather – written by me some years ago(1990!) and being slowly illustrated as the years go by. This image goes with the following lines…

...as the moon rose above the great house,
the guests on the lawn played ‘Cat and Mouse’,

And some were in boats on the bird-made-lake,
sipping champagne and pecking at cake; ....

The grotty look to some areas of the illustration board support are due to an exploding tube of burnt sienna ...warning always ensure that an old tube of paint is not clogged by drier paint at its opening…the end of the tube may burst, sending pigment over the artist and a half completed paintiing!
