I was filming a TV series called Catherine’s Italian Kitchen in Sicily in July 09. We went to Erice on the east coast near the Trapani Salt Pans. It was bult up on the hill and can be accessed by road or cable car.
It is home to Maria Grammattica and her amazing cakes. She was raised in the nunnery on san Carlo and learned her trade there. She makes incredible sweets and cakes.
I met an ebullient man form bologna who insisted I shouted ‘douchy douchy’ while rubbing my finger in my cheek every time I took a bite of her canolli. How could I refuse?
I took this shot of Catherine FUlvio walking through the sunset light as we made our way back to the bus before heading back down south to Mazarra Del Vallo on a very long day..
