Cool…I live here in Southern California and I have never seen one before. They are really big bugs. Do you catch them in jars like they show in the movies? Great shot and lovely yellow contrast.

They are very small, around 3/8” to a 1/2” long. It appears big because it is a macro shot. As children, yes we use to catch them in jars.

It’s so cool that you got a picture of a lightning bug…I’ve actually never seen one in a picture before. Wouldn’t it be the coolest thing to get a shot of one at night while it’s flying and glowing? Maybe be almost impossible. lol. hmmm.. maybe a project for this summer.

Hey thanks. Lightning bugs are not abundant yet here in Bell Co. I could probably capture one at time, but it would have to be with a flash, or a lot of MANUAL focusing. Definitely a difficult project.
