Sweet Dreams Abide

Don’t be afraid, I will not hurt you
Don’t turn away or run & hide
For all my days are filled with sunshine
And in my nights sweet dreams abide

If we had wings like Nora’s white dove, we could sail the raging northern sea
And find that rose that grows in winter, deep beneath the snows of Normandy
And when the wind blows across the hillside
We’ll make our home by the tall pine trees

If I had gold & diamond jewels, all wealth untold, great mansions too
I would trade them all for a moment’s beauty
Just to hold your hand & walk with you

I’ve seen three ships sail afar on the ocean
Each loaded deep as the briny blue
Yet even deeper my devotion, as I dream of waking next to you
And when the dawn breaks across the valley
We’ll go wandering out in the morning dew

Oh waly waly, when the wind blows, pull the blankets up & dream with meOh waly waly, when the wind blows, I pull the blankets up & dream of you…

Artist's Description

Based on several old folk songs (Nora’s Dove, Water Is Wide, & Waly Waly) coupled with a recurring dream of mine.. I’d like the words to stand on their own but in my mind I sing them to the tune of Silver Dagger (’Don’t sing love songs, you’ll wake my mother..’)
