Space tourism is still a long ways off, but it’s not hard to imagine that someday, tourists will visit the natural geological landmarks of other worlds much like they tour the Grand Canyon, Mount Everest or Ayers Rock. Each of these great tourist destinations needs a classic retro travel poster to entice visitors. Until the day people settle off world and make their own destinations many of these may be the places that people will want to travel too.
I hope that these posters can inspire people to think beyond our world to the limitless possibilities of the Universe.
Cleopatra is a double-ring impact basin about 100 kilometers (62 mi) in diameter and 2.5 kilometers (1.6 mi) deep. A steep-walled, winding channel a few kilometers wide breaks through the rough terrain surrounding the crater rim. A large amount of lava originating in Cleopatra flowed through this channel and filled valleys in Fortuna Tessera. Cleopatra is superimposed on the structures of Maxwell Montes and appears to be undeformed, indicating that Cleopatra is relatively young.
This is a Interpretive look at the Cleopatra Crater on Venus The scene shows an interpretive view from the upper crater. The lower crater is shown at the bottom of the image. Through the wall of the upper crater and a small portion of the lower crater is crack / valley where lava once flowed. Currently the sun despite being mostly blocked by heavy cloud cover is shining light through the break in the crater wall.
