End of an era...

Posted 10 days ago

Today I attended the funeral of my great Aunt Bridgie. She was 95. She drove up until a few days before her death. An amazing woman very involved in her community. For her nintiety birthday the whole family clubbed together to give her a ride on mower which she used weekly to trim the grass.
It was amazing to see aunts and uncles, cousins and second cousins all gathered today to celebrate thi…

So much rain forced me to clean my studio!

Posted 13 days ago

It has been such a wet damp summer in Ireland that the beginning of this week I felt cornered to clean my studio. Considering I had packed it so full of stuff that it was more like a cave. I could reach the computer which is just inside the door but not my design desk or large easel… it had to happen sooner rather then later. Now lets be clear about my studio as much as I’d love to have a lar…

Anti-gaming lead stance to tramatic forest experience

Posted about 1 month ago

Well it was dramatic. I’m a mom to three boys, a 10, 6 and 4.5 they are avid fans of Playstation. I’m not and have never been a fan of gaming even when I worked in the localisation industry back in the early ‘90’s. I just don’t get it. But as a mom to 3 kids in this day and age I have to face reality and deal with it.

Anyway the kids have been on holidays for a week – now into week two. So t…

Blue bells at the forest gate

Posted 3 months ago

The forest is filled with blue bells and ramsons (wild garlic). I’m very frustrated at the moment my camera gear needs to be upgraded and at ever turn of the road or path I find images presented to me that I want to capture. I have been doing a lot of workshops so my personal work is reverting to photography and finding creative expression in capturing nature and presenting my edited version to…

To bursary or not to bursary?

Posted 6 months ago

The local county council arts bursary award has its closing date next Thursday. I am trying to decide if I should put something together for it? It has a fair amount of work to go in getting the application form ready but its the idea that is the real crux.

I have really changed how I work. Social situations where I am encouraging others creativity seems to be much more important to me right…

Grey wet cold weather goin' on...

Posted 7 months ago

Ireland can be so bleak atthis time of year, the dampness gets in to my bones and the greyness white washes my senses. This can have an interesting effect on the landscape. Trying to clear some physical and mental space to work, slowly coming out of winter hibernation. Gravity is slowly drawing out the spring bulbs so nice to see the emergence of nature.
I kinda like that aspect of working wi…

Its winter here

I love the way the trees are so stark at this time of year,
exposed bare.
Showing there structure and true ‘nature’ to us.

Trying to get work up loaded...

Things never seem to go as planned. My three boys seem destined to ruin my work plans – winter bugs and sniffles keep them out of school and me out of my studio!
