GTR Stands & The Frames 1993 by

Glen Hansard the recent Oscar winner shared with his duet partner Markéta Irglová for Best Original Song in a Feature Film for “Falling Slowly” from the flick, “Once” shot as he said on two handycams.
Busking since the age of 13 Hansard and The Frames had been Irelands best known undiscovered band, even though they had and have a worldwide fan base. Due to my Austrian friend Michaela’s love of The Frames and all things musical in Dublin I managed to take this photo, it was a short time (considering the intervening years) after he played Outspan in Alan Parkers “The Commitments” alongside Colm Meaney, Rob Strong, Bronagh Gallagher, Andrea Corr amongst a host of others including Lance Daly as the kid with the Harmonica see huge list:

Just recently discovered Hansard, The Frames and Once. Instant favs! The Committments is on it’s way in the mail today. Amazing you have this shot! Look how young and skinny Hansard is here, and caught mid song! This has got to be a hot hit for you! Love the setting. My husband has been in bands forever, this is a typical practice place. Wonderful even if these were unknowns. I guess they were then! Hmmm? Where’s that voucher?! ;)

I got my matted photo yesterday Philip. Looks fantastic blown up, great quality. So glad to have it, though I still wish it was signed, by you and by Glen! LOL! I really love the cords, stacks, grunginess, etc. Now to find a frame and add it to my collection. Thanks! ~ Alice

  • Excellent so glad thats it good quality as I have not got a print yet myself, working on choosing stuff. Maybe I can sign it electronically…
