We all went on a 5 day bike trip through the center of the nothern stretch of Cuba from Varadero to Trinidad covering about 60km a day.
It was to raise money for Beaumont Hospital in Dublin but to also, of course, get to see an interesting corner of the world in a unique fashion.
What was really nice was that generally speaking we ended up splitting apart (there were 40 of us) and cycled pretty much alone thereby encountering people who had come out to watch our faster peers go by. I sped, slowed, took photos and conversed in sign language.
People seemed to be happy though very poor by Irish standards.
