Bikers at the Man O' War
Every year at a small town, well village, well pub and two houses just outside Dublin City and suburbs there was and most probably is a Bikers meeting at the Pub called after the..hamlet, .. Man o’ War. Great name for a bikers meet. There was live music, strippers, big tents, loadsa bikes a fun fair and plenty of booze and gear and other fun stuff like conversation and dancing and removing the hat of a tall biker with a forked beard and living to dance some more. Fred and Analis (the angel) were there from Sweden, as were all the gang from Raheny and Clontarf and not one of us had a motorbike (Joe did but it was a Vespa and he was a Mod, crazy man!). It was a great weekend and it was in 1995 methinks or maybe it was later?

Amazingly cool shot, and I like the story. Nicely cropped to center attention on the hand after passing from face to face… and in fact, that’s which really makes me look deeper… Is it a man or a woman? The face could go either way, and then my gaze settles on the hand with those awesome rings and the fingernails and the delicately caressed cigarette with the trailing smoke, so it’s got to be a woman… which is cool as the first impression is 3 tough-nut rocker dudes. Philip, however I look at this, i so love that I keep looking. Nice work!!

Hey Billyboy!, Many thanks for a great assesment (rather than comment) The shot is as taken so there was no cropping after, long lens you see kept my distance and safety in mind, ha ha!

Such a striking photograph. Everything yells I want to be mean, the woman particularly. The details of the smoke, the curve of the finger softening it all.
We dont get that great depth of field with the digital anymore alas.

Three levels.
It is three points required for triangulation (ok, a redundant point). However, many forget in art, other than when looking for a horizon point, that the trio is one of the most basic and intrinsic qualities of everything. Here: Focus, Dim, Obscured. Triangulation? Yeh, it still applies.
I am afraid I don’t have the spirit to elaborate on what I see here, but know I see more than most (forgive me for perhaps sounding narcissistic in this comment).
And so do you.
Another find of a golden artist. Rare even here.
