Located at the Das Dutchman Essenhaus Inn & Conference Center in Middlebury, Indiana … a seemingly Amish concern, with the Inn, Amish restaurant, Amish Bakery and this wonderful bridge. Taken during a light snow. (Interesting back story: I trudged through ankle deep snow 30 yards or so from where we had parked to take this photo so as to catch part of the waterway in the shot. Susan, after I was almost back, decided she would walk out a bit to get a different perspective and almost walked right into the mostly snow-covered water, but I was then close enough to stop her about a step from the edge.)

the Essenhaus (eating house) must be a popular place in Ind. —have another member who shot this with a different perspective & season!! Nice capture Terrence!

  • Thanks, Ruth. I suspect it is photographed quite often. I felt lucky we found it, it was snowing, and had a great snow-covered ground as it added something extra to the scene. I do, however, regret that, due to our schedule, we had no opportunity to eat there.

Well worth the stop Tiger, the surrounding landscape adds to the shot. Usually it`s Susan watching your back, lucky for her you caught her.

  • Thanks, Jules. It was a hoot driving along the invisible road across the bridge. Thankfully they had markers pushing up through the snow along the edges of the road. It was easy to see how Susan failed to see the water’s edge concealed beneath than same blanket of snow. It was cold enough without getting one’s feet wet! ;)
