Sam Houston Statue in Huntsville

Terence Russell

Hillsboro, United States

Artist's Description

If you have ever driving on I-45 between Huntsville and Houston, I doubt you missed seeing this enormous statue on the east side of the road. It towers above all the trees.
THE STATUE
“A Tribute to Courage” the Sam Houston Statue was designed and constructed by artist David Adickes. He dedicated the statue to the City of Huntsville on October 22, 1994. It is the world’s tallest statue of an American Hero at 67 feet tall on a 10 foot sunset granite base.
info from The Sam Houston Statue
What really amazes me most is the fact it has only been there since 1994. It seems to have always been there watching over the travelers on I-45!
