Does Anyone [Really] Know What Time It Is? by

Photograph of two pocket watches once owned by my wife’s grandfather, who was a passenger train conductor, resting upon a pair of engineers overalls. One of these watches dates to just after 1900.

Nice soft focus here Terence adding to the feeling of age. I nearly said it looks timeless but that wouldn’t be quite right. :)
I like the striped cloth you have placed them on.

  • Thanks, Bob. The striped cloth is actually a pair of my overalls, a suggestion made by my wife! I took this without flash using only the light of a overcast day that came through closed blinds.

Great Shot Terence, fitting actually, because the focus, etc. make them look even older, and also at the same time, “time” is somewhat flexible (soft). Love the coveralls, your wife was definitely right. I know the old railway men used to wear this type of coveralls, at least back east in PA. ;o)

  • Thanks! I created this one especially for a challenge, so hopefully it wins! The title comes from a hit by Chicago. Apropos because her grandfather was based out of Chicago and the watches are displaying differing times.

I love the soft aged effect to this shot Terence. It is fabulous and the striped material beneath it adds to the appeal. Well done.

  • Those two watches did well in the challenge as both my wife and I ended up in the top 10. Thanks for the compliment. This was one of very few challenges for which I actually created something to enter.
