I took off early to attend the SXSW RedBubble Shindig in Austin so as to again visit McKinney Falls State Park. As last time, the falls were barely trickling, so I was fraught with worries I would not get a single good shot for my efforts. Thankfully, I found delight in my last shot of the day! The homestead, despite looking like it was built of halite or concrete blocks is actually made from quarried native stone. Although not as eye pleasing as I had hoped, this image should allow you to see the quality and color of the native stone:
McKinney Falls State Park is nestled quite near the burgeoning Metropolis of Austin, Texas and yet seems remote and not as well visited as one might believe.
