Got an email invite to this event for this past Monday from 8:00p.m. to 12:00p.m. Since Austin is only a two hour drive, thought I might drop in and hopefully meet and greet a few other RB artists and the like. Lordy, did I ever forget this is Spring Break and it was filled with art and people appropriate for a tattoo parlor. Who selected the works on display? Seriously, it all looked like tattoo art! I saw only a couple of other people who were over 30 and they appeared to be in a world all by themselves, perched on the only seating in the place with filled glasses of some pinkish wine. No one appeared to be an artist of any type, or, if they were, they were not pointing out any of their works to anyone, as far as I could see. They were mostly drinking free beer and wine and getting all the other freebies they could find. The only good point to the whole ordeal, in my estimation, was that RB products that I had not purchased yet were on display, such as iPhone cases, stickers, and some of the faux canvas prints. Anyway, I had a long drive home so did not partake of any of the free wine or beer and passed on the bowl of potato chips, having dined just previous to arrival. I blame much of my disappointment with my own high expectations and lack of proper research. To tell you how long I was there, I was home just after midnight.
