the clock tower makes me think of “Back to the Future”. Cool shot
Terence Russell replied
Before the recent renovation, the clock tower was not in existence as it had been removed at some date in the past for some reason, likely dealing with not being structurally sound.
CraigsMom

absolutely gorgeous, Terence!!! I’ve really GOT to figure out the bracketing thingie on the camera one of these days and do my hdr the right way!!!! This image proves it really REALLY pays off!!!!! Another magic capture!!!
Terence Russell replied
You literally have to have Photomatrix Pro to create a good HDR. I have tried a couple of other programs that supposedly do HDR and they don’t do as good as Photomatrix. Almost all the really good HDR artists I know use it. I had to read the instruction manual two or three times before I learned to bracket correctly. Once you get the hang of it, though, it is easy. Just you’ll never do anything again without a tripod. :)

I agree, I use Photomatix Pro … have been using the newer 3.2.6 for the past couple of weeks. Honestly, one of the reasons I wanted the D300 was to be able to bracket in camera. All have to do is re read the booklet … lol … must remember to do that!!!! Readthemanualreadthemanualreadthemanual … Oh .. .and I agree about the tripod if I’m going to do that!!! For sure!! Hate the lack of mobility and freedom the thing imposes, but if I’m going to do hdr right … as you’ve so beautifully done here, it’s the only way to go.
Terence Russell replied
3.2.6? I might need to look into if I have the most recent version. Actually, I find the tripod does not really hinder me much. Get one that has a removable camera mount and the flip switch catches on the legs. I keep the connector constantly attached to my camera so that mounting it on the tripod is and snap, and I usually do the expansion/reduction of the legs as I am walking from the car to whatever scene I am going to photograph. PS, I always set +2 to -2. I often take two different sets of brackets of the same scene so I can use Photomatrix to expand the range at increments of 2. The key, however, is in the curve.
Lois Bryan
Hi Terence … yes, I have a new Manfrotto with the ball head and I keep the mount on the camera at all times. I do agree with you that the flip switch to remove the camera is a breeze … soooo much easier than my older tripods!!! I guess my prejudices and grumps about the thing are based on my old tripods … the new one really is a sweetheart. I guess I just don’t like lugging the thing around … lazy thing that I am!!! As to the Photomatix, I actually didn’t like the newer version when it first came out and went back and d/l 3.1!!! I flip between about three versions depending on my mood!!! There really isn’t much difference, although 3.2.6 seems a LOT faster!!!

Thanks so much, morpheus, for an excellent compliment. I still am learning the process, but I seemed to have gotten a good handle on it.
