Thanks, David. That is what, to me, makes HDR such a magical process … it takes what appear to be dull grey skies in my normal photography and makes them wonderfully dynamic.

Thanks, Leigh. The way HDR really enhances the detail in clouds, rocks, and wood make it one of the reasons I fell in love with the process.

Me and my wife, as well. We are going to get passports so we can visit Branff on the Canadian side at some future date … and I mean future as we had to drive 3 days just to get to GNP … not stopping to take photos along the way, which was excruciatingly difficult for us both. ;)

Thank you, muchly. I had little to do with the lighting … just had a bit of luck. As I have found on more than one occasion, the day and moment is as essential in landscape photography as is the composition. The very next day, I saw this same scene again … blue skies overhead and stark bright light. It was a completely different scene.

I have a few, but find that although they are definitely a must see, they are situated such that they really don’t photograph well. The dinos by the store, now, were great subjects.

Surprisingly, I actually took this one from the road as I was sitting in a long line of cars awaiting the pilot vehicle to lead us along a one lane road where they were repairing a bit of avalanche damage. If you have to sit and await a pilot car for 45 minutes, I guess you could find worse places to do so. ;)

You take bracketed images, buy Photomatrix Pro (try it for free as long as you want, but you get watermarked results), then practice, practice, practice. The tone curve is the key.
