Artist Statement

Drawing inspiration from the Art Nouveau and Pop Surrealism movements, it can be difficult to nail down a pervasive theme to my work. Relics of a bygone age float by in a world saturated with ancient mythology. If it need be boiled down to a single unified force, it would have to be an ever-present sense of the whimsical. My work focuses on the magic that exists in the universe, peeking out through the cracks in the old places of the world.

I’m a self-taught artist, and every work is a new expiriment. I work predominantly in pencil and watercolor, although it’s not uncommon for me to add additional media to achieve the desired effect. I focus on the human figure, placing characters in historical or fantastical settings – sometimes both – to create images reminiscent of a fairy tale.
